“East of the Sun” created their own unique music from the eclectic mix of musical influences comprised of traditional Japanese folk melody, jazz and contemporary beats. “East of the Sun” plays Jazz oriented original tunes composed by Kuni Mikami and also perform several pieces written by the other Asian composers.

Kuni Mikami (Keyboard) is active in New York since 1974, performed with Lionel Hampton Orchestra and also toured with Duke Ellington Orchestra. Playing at many Japanese Cultural Festivals.

Asako Takasaki (Vocal)is a Jazz vocalist and singer song writer. She fell in love with jazz and hasn’t looked back. Moving to New York City in 2004, Asako has been on the scene ever since and also recently started to study with Five times Grammy-Nominated Artist Karrin Allyson.
